This month Matthew Brecknell will be presenting two talks. Firstly, a summary of the recent International Conference on Functional Programming [1]. His second talk will be an intermediate-level look at functional data structures.

Hope to see you all there!

I thought Matt did a good presentation. Some of the presentation was over my head but I did come away with a new appreciation for folds(l,r) and it got me thinking about the performance of a solution. I specially enjoyed the introduction of the "fingertree" structure! :)

Nice to hear Matthew's experiences of the conferences in Edinburgh and a good explanation of folding lists, trees and intrigued by finger-trees.

Others and I were between 5-15 minutes late arriving. Please consider just chatting for the first 15 minutes to allow for stragglers! Give newcomers a chance to introduce themselves and meet everyone. The M'n'M's were great! The tutorial material was a real eye opener that creating immutable lazy data structures with performance characteristics near their mutable equivalents is a real challenge.
